Florals for spring? Groundbreaking. Sorry, sorry - I couldn't resist.

While I believe that florals and botanicals never truly go out of style, there's been a delightful resurgence as of late. With the return to traditional design elements and the revival of wallpaper, these timeless motifs are once again in the mainstream. I find these prints especially beautiful when they are hand-painted, which gives a more delicate and soft look. Moreover, they serve as a brilliant canvas for exploring colors and crafting unique palettes.

Here are some hand-painted florals and botanicals that have recently caught my eye:

This color combination is so inspiring. I love the mix of earth tones with pops of blue and violet.

I love how delicate this embroidery is and that it has the feeling that is drawn by hand.

If you're looking to incorporate this look into your collection, it would be the perfect opportunity for an artist collaboration. I can see these types of florals working in so many product categories in addition to the styles you typically see them in - textiles, wallpaper, and ceramics. I'd love to see this in more upholstery and furniture applications. A minimal interpretation painted on wood would be incredible.

For an easy update to your curation, think about adding floral and botanical block prints and hand-painted ceramics. I love the styles from Soil to Studio I saw at Shoppe Object, and Annie Waterman has many beautiful sources for this type of ceramic.
