One of my favorite pastimes is browsing runway shows (though it hasn't been the same since we lost style.com). I find fashion can be a great source of inspiration for home products as trend cycles move faster and designers take more risks with color, pattern, material, and texture. With Fall/Winter ‘24 fashion month wrapping up earlier in March, I wanted to share some of the looks that I think would translate beautifully into home products.
Classic autumn hues from Chloe

Purple haze
One of my favorite quotes from Miuccia Prada is - “I love it when I become interested in something I have always hated - a color or shape - and become willing to work with it. I tend to work against my own taste.”
This is my relationship with purple over the last few years, and seeing it on the Fall ‘24 runway had me brainstorming more ways to use it in my designs (beyond a small accent color). I still prefer purples that have more red than blue tones (first image by Giada), but I'm starting to come around to the true purples (second image by Paul Smith).

Mellow yellow
These looks are a reminder not to sleep on menswear when seeking inspiration (from left: Bottega Veneta, Kimhēkim, Bottega Veneta).

Unexpected color combinations
These are the color combinations that caught my eye from Loewe, Stella McCartney, and mfpen. Surprisingly (or maybe not), two of the three combos include purple tones.

Olive and Navy (less unexpected but not one you see as often in home)

Burnt Orange and Deep Purple

Lilac, Camel, Taupe
Abstracting trending patterns
This leopard by Isabel Marant is a beautiful example of taking a trending print and doing it in an abstract way so it becomes more timeless.

New take on texture
These surface designs and embellishments could easily translate into home products and give me hope that there is more to the future of texture than boucle.

I would love to see some window treatments or lighting with these kinds of textures and embellishments from Givenchy and Cecilie Bahnsen.

Stella McCartney has always been one of my favorites and this season is no exception.
Artful jewelry
Finally, these silver earrings by Carven would be an incredible inspiration for metal wall art and decor. I love that silver is having a comeback and I'm excited to see it more in home.
